Unique Gifts for Travelers

Unique gifts for travelers

The holiday season is finally upon us. The hardest part of holiday shopping is finding gifts that people can, or will, actually use. It can be especially difficult to shop for someone who is a frequent traveler. They’re always on the go, so typical gifts may not be of much use to them. If you currently find yourself in this predicament, keep reading to find some unique gift ideas for the traveler in your life.

Wallets

The best travelers tend to be the most organized. The first step of organizing yourself for travel is figuring out your wallet situation. It’s where you keep your money and many of your vital travel documents. Ideally, a travel wallet is multifunctional and helps you solve a few problems at once. It also isn’t overly bulky and offers RFID scan protection.

Donword Travel Wallet

If you’re a fan of consolidation, you’ll love Donword’s travel wallet. Its compact size and minimalist design make it ideal for men and women.

Donword’s travel wallet offers RFID theft-protection and multiple storage compartments. There’s nothing worse than fumbling through your bags to find something when you’re at the airport. With Donword’s travel wallet, you can rest assured knowing that your passport, boarding pass, money, and credit cards are all safely stored in one place. Additionally, its money sleeve is well-hidden, so you don’t have to worry about dropping your money when retrieving something from the wallet. It’s a bit on the pricey side at $39.99, but if the price I a primary factor in your decision-making process, there are alternatives.

ZOpen RFID Travel Passport Wallet

ZOpen’s RFID travel wallet has all of the standard features of Donword’s travel wallet, but it’s a much cheaper alternative at $16.99. The nylon exterior is water-proof, so you don’t have to worry about spills. ZOpen’s travel wallet is more substance than style. It has a somewhat generic design, but it does come in 15 different colors, so at least you’ve got some customization options.

Vemingo Family Passport Holder

From a functional perspective, Vemingo’s travel wallet is one of the better items on the market. It’s not as stylish as the Donword travel wallet, but it’s not as generic as ZOpen’s passport wallet. It just might be the perfect marriage of the two.

Vemingo’s travel wallet is built for consolidation yet has plenty of space for your travel items. It holds four passports and thirteen credit cards, and there’s even room for a cellphone. The detachable keyring on the interior is a convenient add-on for those who tend to misplace their keys. This passport wallet packs a lot into a small package and is moderately priced at $17.99.

Travel Backpacks

Every traveler should invest in an anti-theft travel backpack. Standard backpacks can be opened without you noticing, but with the right anti-theft backpack, you’ll never have to worry about someone sneaking into your bag while you walk again.

XD Design Anti-theft Backpack:

The XD Design anti-theft backpack costs between $79 – $95 depending on the color. It’s expensive, but it is one of the best on the market. The inside is inaccessible from the back, and the zippers are completely hidden. It also has a padded backplate and built-in spine support. The XD is designed for comfort and security.

Kopack Anti-Theft Backpack

The Kopack anti-theft backpack is another high-quality travel backpack, but it’s much cheaper at $49.99. It doesn’t have the same level of padding or back support as the XD backpack, but it serves the same purpose. Your things will be completely safe. It’s an excellent alternative if you’re looking for a great anti-theft backpack on a budget.

Tzowla Anti-theft Travel Backpack

Tzowla’s travel backpack is on my wishlist. It’s ideal for travel or everyday use, and I love the security features. The inner-most compartment’s zippers are password-protected, so no one is getting inside without your permission. Tzowla’s travel backpack features charging ports and a spacious interior. It comes in 10 colors, and best of all, it only costs $27.95.

Travel Gear

Hero Hoodie

This isn’t an essential item, but it sure is a cool invention. It’s basic yet ingenious. The Hero Hoodie is a hoodie that can convert into a backpack. If you’re like me, and you loathe carrying around extra items, this hoodie would make a great addition to your collection.

The Hero Hoodie has a slim-fit design, so you should keep that in mind before ordering one. There are pullover and full-zip versions of the hoodie. $54.95 is a little steep for a hoodie, but it’s a unique gift, and in all likelihood, the person you’re shopping for doesn’t already own one.

Foldies Sunglasses

This pick is more so about the concept than the actual brand. I’m a huge proponent of saving space whenever possible, so naturally, foldable sunglasses are a great idea to me. Foldies come in multiple styles, but I tend to favor aviators.

At $79, Foldies qualify as a luxury item in my book, but remember, the concept is the most important thing here. There are much cheaper alternatives out there, but quite frankly, I haven’t seen many that look as good. By no means these sunglasses a must-have item, but they are a nice luxury if you have money to splurge on a gift.

Mobot Foam Roller Water Bottle

Mobot’s foam roller water bottle is one of the more unique gift ideas on this list. This water bottle doubles as a foam roller that supports up to 350lbs of weight. It’s made from 100% recycled stainless steel, and it’s BPA-free. It’s perfect for travel or daily use, and it’s another multipurpose item that will save the traveler in your life some much-needed space in their luggage.

Fitly Minimalist Running Pack

What do you get when you combine travel with exercise? We may finally have an answer. Fitly’s running vest is perfect for travel with its lightweight and body-fitting design.

The design keeps items from moving around while you run, and there are pockets for all of your important items. The Fitly Minimalist running pack costs $59, but for an additional $10, you can get their gel flask to store in the vest’s belt pocket. If the price tag is too high, there are other cost-effective alternatives.

Gear Beast Running Backpack

At $19.99, Gear Beast’s running backpack is a more than capable alternative to Fitly’s running backpack, and they’re roughly the same size. The most glaring difference between the two is the lack of utility pockets on the belt.

Gear Beast’s running backpack was designed with technology and convenience in mind. The small ports on top of the backpack keep headphone wires out of the way while you run and help maximize comfort. Like its Fitly counterpart, the Gear Beast running backpack is lightweight and easy to pack for travel. It’s a great value for the price.

Travel Tech

DJI Osmo Pocket

Are you shopping for an aspiring blogger, vlogger, or videophile?

DJI’s Osmo Pocket could be what you’ve been searching for. I’ve been looking for an affordable, high-quality camera for a while, and the Osmo checks both boxes. You do need to download some software on your phone to maximize the camera’s potential. That being said, it’s still the perfect gift idea for a traveling creative. It’s small enough to fit in your pocket yet powerful enough to deliver a smooth 4k video. I love it so much that it will likely be one of my next two major purchases.

Duex Pro Portable Monitor

This is a must-have for any traveler who works remotely. Duex’s portable monitor connects to your laptop, and it can instantly replicate your work setup from back home. As a bonus, it’s also compatible with mobiles and gaming consoles. Duex’s portable monitor is the perfect gift for the tech-enthusiast who travels.

UGEE M708 Graphics Tablet

Here we have another useful tool for techies who travel. Graphics tablets are fun and practical gift ideas for current and aspiring designers. The M708 has good reviews and comes at a palatable price point of $59.99. The tablet is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems, but as of yet, it doesn’t function with Linux or Chrome.

Apeman NM4 Mini Projector

I love projectors! There’s nothing like getting that movie theater experience in the comfort of your own home. I’m currently in the market for a new one now that my old projector has finally tapped out. I’ve got my eye on the NM4 projector.

I had a traditional bulky home projector, but I’d like the next one to be more portable. Apeman’s projector is small, and it’s compatible with Android, iPhone, laptops, PCs, and gaming consoles. It also comes with a 360˚ tripod, a built-in charger, stereo speakers, and an audio jack in case you want to use headphones or add external speakers.

Does anyone need a projector? Of course not, but think of all of the cool stuff you can do with one.

Bond Touch Bracelets

This is a unique gift idea that targets couples separated by long distances. When one person touches their bracelet, the other person will feel it no matter where they are in the world. There are some limitations, but it’s still an incredible concept. You can color-code your touches to convey different emotions, and it’s a delightful way to let that special someone know that they’re on your mind.

You need Bluetooth and a Wi-Fi/data connection to send or receive touches. You also have to install the app on your phone for the process to work. Bond Touch bracelets cost $98.00, so you’d better make sure you care about that special someone before buying. Each order includes two bracelets and chargers.

Travel Adapter

My last travel adapter lasted me for three years, and I can confirm that they’re a necessity for anyone who travels. I love practical gifts, and it doesn’t get more practical than a travel adapter.

Glamfield Travel Adapter

Glamfield’s travel adapter works in over 200 countries, and it costs $21.80, so it’s a good value for frequent travelers. The one negative of this adapter is that it doesn’t convert voltage for you. If your device can’t manage the voltage on its own, it can break. You’ll have to check the voltage capabilities of your devices ahead of time. The good news is that most major devices, such as laptops and mobile phones, can convert voltage themselves.

Hyted Travel Adapter/Power Converter

Hyted’s travel adapter/power converter combo works in over 150 countries across North America, Europe, and Australia. Their adapter doesn’t cover as many countries, but your smaller items like hair driers and clippers should be safe for use overseas. I know how much of a problem that can be. My favorite clippers broke in Thailand because they couldn’t handle the voltage. In my opinion, a travel adapter with voltage conversion capabilities is a must-have. Hyted’s travel adapter is slightly more expensive at $29.95, but I’d rather pay a few extra dollars for an adapter than have to replace an entire appliance. Trust me – I’ve been there.

Final Thoughts

Christmas shopping can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. With a little effort, you can find unique gifts within your budget that are sure to impress. Whatever you do, just don’t gift anyone socks or a tie. Nobody wants that.

Happy holidays and happy shopping!
